Privacy policy

We designed MapleCache to work without knowing who you are. This page explains exactly what we collect, in plain English, per PIPEDA.

What we collect (and what we don't)

When you use the site we log anonymous events: that a code was revealed, that a link to a store was clicked, that a search happened. These events contain no name, no email, no account ID, and no IP address — we don't store any identifier that could tie activity back to you.

We use these anonymous counts to show honest success rates, rank fresh deals higher, and understand which categories Canadians care about.

What stays on your device

Saved deals (the ♡ hearts), Bucky's savings tracker, and your recently browsed categories are stored in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we can't see them. Clearing your browser data erases them.

If you create an account (optional)

Accounts exist for one reason: syncing your saved deals and Bucky's tracker across devices. If you sign up we store your name, email, chosen sign-in method (email/password or Google, Facebook, Apple), your saved-deal list, and your tracker totals. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes; social sign-in shares only your name and email with us. Active sessions record an IP address and browser type for security.

Everything else stays as it is for everyone: browsing, revealing codes, and voting are never tied to your account — those events remain anonymous. You can use the entire site without an account, forever.

Email (only if you ask)

If you subscribe to deal alerts, we store your email address, when you consented, and how — as Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires. Every email identifies us and includes a one-click unsubscribe. We never buy lists or pre-check consent boxes.

Affiliate links & third parties

When you click through to a store, you leave MapleCache and the store's own privacy policy applies. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies on the merchant side to attribute the sale; that happens on their domains, not ours.

Questions or requests

Under PIPEDA you can ask what information we hold about you (for most visitors: none) and ask us to delete a newsletter subscription at any time. Write to privacy@maplecache.com and a human will answer.
